The Beginning

Out of the depths I cry out to you, O Lord!

Lord, hear my voice!

Let your ears be attentive

To the voice of my supplications!

He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”

I wait for the Lord. My soul waits,

and in his word I hope;

The modern world does not know masculinity.

You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men.

– Matthew 5:13

The world has shunned Masculinity and driven it into the depths and darkness of society. There, he had a brief encounter with hedonism, and is currently clawing, tooth and nail, to escape. That or, depending on your view, Masculinity is doing his best to pull the world down into hedonism with him.

The modern world does not know God.

My people are bent on turning away from me;

so they are appointed to the yoke,

and none shall remove it

– Hosea 11:7

Meanwhile, God was kicked out of the home. His people were bent on turning away from him, and so he went out to the Wilderness, where he always was, saying, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” They were not kept.

It certainly has no clue what Godly Masculinity is.

They shall go after the Lord,

he will roar like a lion;

yes, he will roar,

and his sons shall come trembling from the west;

they shall come trembling like birds from Egypt

and like doves from the land of Assyria;

and I will return them to their homes, says the Lord

The world has a ‘touchy-feely’ nice-guy approach to Christ. The world does not understand the Love involved in admonishing sin in an attempt to lead the person to Joy and Wisdom.  The world does not understand the difference between Pride and Courage. It does not understand the strengths of the virtues, the fruits of the holy spirit, the beatitudes, or the Patriarchs.

Let us begin to change that. To pull Masculinity out of the Depths, the sewers, the refuse where it was left stagnant to rot. Let us go into the traditional wisdom of our Fathers to find God again in the Wilderness, and clear a place there for him so that we can learn, worship, and obey.

Let us, as men, find what it means to have a Godly Masculinity in our soul. It will be hard, painstaking, and might break us. It will bring us Faith, Hope, and Charity when we are remade as Sons of the Father.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

Let us make straight the way of the Lord in ourselves, so that we might shine forth.
